Head of the drill Drill heads are classified based on three important subjects of design and categorization.

Drill heads that cause the fragmentation and abrasion of rocks, mostly compatible with adhesive clay, shale rocks, and muddy shale. Drill heads that cause penetration into rocks by performing cutting (rock drilling), mostly compatible with hard rocks, semi-hard rocks, and abrasive rocks.

The main task of the drilling bit is to transfer the energy generated by the motor and drill pipe to the rock, which causes the ground to yield. It should be noted that there are specific types of drilling bits used for special operations, one of which is related to bypasses. These types of bits are actually a combination of rotary bits and fixed blades and are classified as special types due to this combination. The point about these special bits is that the drilling diameter by asymmetric bits is larger than the diameter of the bit itself, which makes it special and is used in special drilling operations.
